Overview
We are seeking an experienced software engineer who can harness Large Language Models to build sophisticated software for regulated financial services. This role requires deep engineering fundamentals combined with advanced, responsible LLM expertise - you need the foundational knowledge to effectively steer and control AI systems while ensuring human review, rigorous testing, and audit for all AI outputs. You'll work independently on cutting-edge projects within a governance framework aligned to FCA and ISO 42001 standards, leveraging your software engineering background to architect AI-powered systems that meet the verification standards our clients and regulators expect. We're looking for evidence of advanced LLM usage in production systems, not just experimentation. We hire quality over quantity - we don't need many engineers, just exceptional ones who can multiply their capabilities through AI. Read our full AI Policy for more on how we work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI-powered financial applications using advanced LLM techniques with human review and sign-off at every release stage
- Build sophisticated prompt engineering and DSPy workflows for complex business logic
- Develop memory systems and AI agents using mem0 and other cutting-edge frameworks
- Create serverless architectures and automation workflows using N8N
- Implement MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations for seamless AI interactions
- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles to AI-enhanced applications with particular focus on edge cases and regulatory requirements
- Maintain audit trails documenting where AI has been used in the development process
- Verify and validate all AI-generated outputs before they enter any deliverable, including code, documentation, and analysis
Required Skills
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems
- Advanced DSPy framework expertise for building production LLM applications
- Proficiency with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and AI system integration
- Strong React, TypeScript, and serverless architecture foundations
- Experience with N8N, mem0, and TDD methodologies for AI systems
- Deep understanding of software architecture principles for steering LLM behavior including output verification and human-in-the-loop patterns
- Awareness of data protection requirements (UK GDPR) and regulatory standards (FCA, ISO 42001) as they apply to AI in financial services
Evidence Required
- Demonstrable evidence of advanced LLM usage in previous projects
- Portfolio showcasing AI agent development and prompt engineering work
- Examples of DSPy implementations and serverless AI applications
- Experience working within AI governance frameworks, or a clear understanding of responsible AI practices in regulated industries
Benefits
- Competitive salary starting at £45,000 PA based on LLM expertise
- Flexible working hours and remote work setup
- Professional development budget
- Health insurance
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
